No Day But Today

Copy:
At the apple orchard this year, Elly & I were walking over to the hay piles to watch her sisters play around. Elly said, "Mom, in my whole seven, almost eight, years . . . " I thought for sure she was going to stroke my mommy ego and say that she'd never missed a fall trip to the apple orchard. She hadn't, and I was getting so excited that this tradition was important to her. But she said, "I've never had, even once, a caramel apple." Well, we had to remedy that right away. This shot took seven, almost eight, years to get, but it was well worth it.

Popcorn

Copy:
Sunday night is popcorn & movie night. Josie couldn't wait to dig in. She just hopped right up onto the island, laid down and dug into the trough. So cute.

I Spy

Too long to retype, too lazy to open the original to copy & paste, too unimportant to worry about it.

Perfect

Copy:
Perfect. The picture certainly isn't. Neither our girls or the Kerr girls are wearing their cutest outfits. Hair isn't great. Some poses are a little goofy or cheesy.

But the night was. Gorgeous, gorgeous summer night. Eating snacks for supper out on the patio. Steve and I visiting with Tom and Sherri, just talking and hanging out. Kids running in the backyard, catching bugs and making an ant house. Sometimes running through the sprinkler, sometimes avoiding the sprinkler in fear. Sometimes just standing in the sprinkler. Sometimes riding bikes. Unlimited Kool-Aid Jammers, lemonade for us gals, beer for the guys. Perfectly warm. Vibrant, slow sunset. No bugs even. Everything a summer night should be. Absolutely perfect. May 31, 2006.
